As springtime ushers in warm weather in New York City, many of our custom picture framing and corporate framing customers at Heritage Frame & Picture Co are preparing for cultural events and art exhibits. As New Yorkers we have been comfortable with being considered the art capital, the financial capital and the cultural capital of the world.

We are also proud of our famous New York skyline. In fact, many of our residential, as well as corporate custom picture framing jobs include photos of the beautiful skyline, the new World Trade Tower and aerial views of Central Park. One walk down Times Square and you see many art vendors and stores sell pictures depicting historic locations throughout all the five boroughs and due to its beautiful homes, acreage, and landscape, Westchester County as well.

As one of New York’s oldest and most experienced custom picture framing, corporate framing, art restoration, and art installation shops, Heritage Frame is proud to provide custom framed artwork for many of the banks, law firms, restaurants, commercial buildings, hotels, art galleries, museums, and residential high rises throughout Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Putnam, Dutchess and Westchester County. So, of course, we are happy to see the art and pictures we enjoy framing, restoring and installing return back to its season.

Though our custom picture and mirror framing shop is located in Tarrytown New York, we were founded in lower Manhattan in 1867. At the time, the original company was named New York Frame & Picture Co. Now, a 4th generation company, Ted Howell- owner and master picture framing artisan- started in the business before he was ten years old under the apprenticeship of his father. An art lover, Ted has evolved the framing business into a 21st-century custom and corporate framing shop with the professional craftsmanship handed down to him from the 19th-century.

As the art capital of the world changes from New York to Los Angeles and maybe soon Miami, our custom art, mirror and picture framing, art restoration, and installation work has continued to extend beyond New York. The question many of our customers wonder is, Is New York still the art capital of the world?

According to observation and with the help of research, New York is no longer the art capital of the world. In fact, Los Angeles has surpassed NY over the last few years. This is supported by data gathered on job opportunities in the field of art. Many artists and photographers have been moving from New York to Los Angeles in search of employment and higher wages. The next popular city is Miami. Due to Miami Art Week and Art Basel, the international art world has discovered how to enjoy art tours and exhibits in the winter by simply participating in Miami’s art explosion.

So even though New York is no longer the art capital, the art, architecture, galleries, and museums are still, at least in our opinion, some of the best in the U.S. As many of our customers are art collectors, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to enjoy artwork purchased from the many shows, artists and photographers participating in art events throughout the world as we frame or install them in their homes, businesses or offices.
