NY's Best Corporate Framing & Art Restoration Shop

For more than 100 years, New York’s best corporate framing and art restoration shop has been Heritage Frame & Picture, a 4th generation custom art framing business founded in 1878 under the name New York Frame & Picture Co. Corporate custom art, mirror and picture frames are specific for commercial establishments and residential buildings.

Billiard_Room Setting C.jpg

Corporate framing is also known as industrial framing and commercial framing. This includes residential complexes, banks, law firms, restaurants, hotels, museums, art galleries, government offices, schools, universities sports arenas, public spaces, casinos, religious institutions, and not for profits.

Unlike custom frames for private residences, corporate framing often incorporates working with event planners, interior designers or building managers. Heritage Frame understands what is required for these environments in terms of coordinating work schedules, working with teams, anchoring art to walls to prevent accidents or theft and ensuring the proper quality of the frame, matting, and installation hardware is utilized.

When framing art, memorabilia, posters, mirrors or pictures for an art collector or a family, the client is given the same attention as our corporate framing clients. The difference usually amounts to the volume of work being framed, the necessity to use a varied amount of frames due to the environment the art will be installed as well as the artwork contained within.

Cortona-Chateau_Room Setting.jpg

Most framing shops do not have the experience or expertise to work with commercial/ industrial picture framing clients. The corporate environment can lend itself to working long hours, often many after hours and weekends as well as often having to restore damaged, stained or ripped art in their collection. Heritage Frame’s primary clients are corporate and we work nationwide with many of our clients by installing artwork throughout their offices in and outside of New York. We also travel for art restoration work and to frame and install art for events, and for corporate gift giving.

We have an extensive list of referrals and client list. We have also been featured in the news and received awards for our accomplishments and success in art framing and art restoration.

If you are a looking for an experienced, professional and enjoyable custom framing company to work with, please call Heritage Frame &  Picture Co. We are not the low price leader. We are the leader in high-quality frames, customer service, and experience.

Custom framed artwork beautifies any space by transforming it into a private art gallery where you share with loved ones. The colors of the art add depth to the room and can help illuminate the color, texture or theme of the interior design.

Hartsdale, a CDP/hamlet/post-office in the town of Greenburgh, New York, lies on the Bronx River just 20 miles (32 km) north ofNew York City. It is served by the Metro-North Harlem River commuter rail line into Grand Central Terminal. Hartsdale is the home of America's first canine pet cemetery (started by veterinarian Samuel Johnson in 1896), and the world's first Carvel Ice Cream store (1934), which closed in 2008.[1]

Hartsdale's earliest settlers were the Weekquaeskeeks (sometimes spelled Weekquasgeeks), a sub-tribe of the Algonquian tribe that lived in most of southern New York, from Westchester down through Manhattan. Weekquaeskeek is an Algonquian term believed to mean "place of the bark kettle", and this kettle appears in the Greenburgh town seal today.

After the earliest British colonialists arrived, the area was developed under the manor system when Frederick Philipse, a Dutch merchant and British Loyalist, was "given" the land by the British government. As lord of his Philipse Manor, he leased his land to tenant farmers who, at least for a time, were believed to have lived alongside their Native American neighbors.

There is evidence to show that Hartsdale played a significant role during the Revolutionary War, some of which still stands today. On October 28, 1776, a Revolutionary War battle was fought alongside the Bronx River, near the site of the current Hartsdale train station. The Odell House (on Ridge Road, built in 1732) served as the headquarters for the French general the Comte de Rochambeau, and is where the count and George Washington are supposed to have formed an alliance leading to the Battle of Yorktown. The house was later named after John Odell, Washington's guide who bought the house in 1785. In 1965, his descendants deeded the house to the Sons of the American Revolution, and today the house is in severe decay, awaiting funds to transform it into a museum.

After the Continental Army and American colonialists won the Revolutionary War, Frederick Philipse III (third lord of the manor and great-grandson to Frederick Philipse I) fled, his land was confiscated and sold to the remaining farming tenants, many of whom were descendants of the Hart family. The intersection of Central Park Avenue and Hartsdale Avenue was named "Hart's Corners" after Robert Hart, one of these farmers who successfully bid for the land, and in the mid-19th century the entire area became known as "Hartsdale".

The area remained largely agrarian until 1865, when Eleazar Hart deeded land for the development of the New York and Harlem Railroad line into Manhattan, setting the stage for Hartsdale to change into a more cosmopolitan commuter village. Between 1880 and 1940, large tracts of farmland and estates were subdivided and converted into private houses and apartments at a furious pace. By the 1960s, almost no remaining farmland was left for sale.

In 1904, the successful German-Jewish banker Felix M. Warburg (1871–1937) purchased large tracts of land to build his 500-acre (2.0 km2) "Woodlands" estate in Hartsdale, a summer home next to the country club where he and his wife Frieda Schiff Warburg (1876–1958) spent considerable time. The estate would later become an important site in the history of modern American ballet, when on June 10, 1934, their son Edward M. M. Warburg (1908–1992) helped produce the first American performance of George Balanchine's masterpiece "Serenade". In keeping with the family's philanthropic efforts, Frieda Schiff Warburg, on her death in 1958, bequeathed a remaining 150 acres (0.61 km2) to the town of Greenburgh to build a public school. These 150 acres (0.61 km2) are now the home of the Greenburgh Central School District (formerly called Greenburgh Central 7 School District) and Woodlands High School. The main Warburg mansion currently serves as the school district headquarters, but other remnants from the original estate grounds can still be seen standing in the surrounding woods and neighboring streets. The Warburg family's New York City home would later be donated to become the Jewish Museum of New York.

On February 9, 1928, Hartsdale made history when the Scottish inventor John Logie Baird (1888–1946) transmitted the world's first inter-continental short-wave television signal from a transmitter (call sign 2KZ) in Coulsdon, Surrey (a suburb of London) to his colleague O. G. Hutchinson in the cellar of Robert M. Hart, an amateur radio operator (call sign 2CVJ) in Hartsdale.[5]

In 1932, Henry Jacques Gaisman, inventor and founder of the Gillette safety razor blade, purchased 136 acres (0.55 km2) of land along Ridge Road, most of which he purchased from George A. C. Christiancy, son of the former U.S. minister to PeruIsaac Peckham Christiancy. In 1952, at age 82, Gaisman married his nurse Catherine "Kitty" Vance Gaisman, aged 33, a former Catholic nun. In 1957, he and his wife Catherine (Mrs. Henry J. Gaisman) passed the title for his land to the New York Archdiocese for $600,000, with the agreement that they could live there as long as they wished. Mr. Gaisman died in 1974 at age 104, and Mrs. Gaisman remained on the estate until she moved to Connecticut in 1995. In 1999, the estate was saved from sale and development when the Town of Greenburgh acquired the property and reopened it as the Hart's Brook Nature Preserve. Part of the agreement included the preservation of some portion of the estate as a home for retired Catholic nuns. Today the Catherine and Henry J. Gaisman Foundation continues to donate large amounts of money to support medical research.

WOW. Isn't that an exciting read. So the next time you need to decorate or want to display photos, artwork, old newspaper articles, letters or other antiques, you can probably find a whole assortment in your own backyard in Hartsdale.

Ossining Picture and Mirror Frame Shop

Ossining Picture and Mirror Frame shop, Heritage Frame & Picture Co. , has the largest variety of wood, silver, gold, museum quality, metal and antique frames in NY.

Heritage Picture and Frame Co. located in Tarrytown, NY provides custom picture framing, mirror framing, art restoration and art installation for Ossining residents and business owners. Many Ossining art collectors, business owners, interior designers and families recommend Heritage Frame and have done so for more than 75 years. In addition to being located near Ossining, Ted Howell, owner and master frame craftsmen, makes private appointments where he meets with you at your business or home.

Ossining NY picture framing- HeritageFrame.com

Heritage Frame is one of the few custom picture framing companies that makes house calls. Determined to provide excellent customer service, Ted has continued the tradition started 140 years ago by his great grandfather who opened the families first shop in lower Manhattan. Since then, Ted has now taken over the family business and believes providing a quality product with excellent service, Heritage Frame can one day be passed onto his children as it was to him.

As the framing business has grown and technology entered the picture and art framing business, some things began to change. Some of the changes are the lack of expert custom framing craftsman. Expert craftsman like Ted understand the value of selecting high quality wood and metals along with equally high quality matting and hardware. Today, many mass produced frames are made with cheap plastics or compressed wood and do not enhance the art, photo, portrait, diploma, poster or memorabilia within.

Instead, these low quality retail frames cheapen the art and do little to preserve its original condition. What is rarely know is that in some instances, the picture frame is an essential part of preserving the art so the are is not subjected to the elements. In other cases, the picture frame is chosen to capture the ambience of the room, home or business in which the art or mirror is hung. so, the frame selection and quality are essential. Furthermore, the frame is just as important as the picture.

Empire Ste building, Ossining NY framing shop, Custom picture frames, HeritageFrame.com

Yes, there are many discount frames that can be bought online as well as at the local Walmart, Michael's, Target and mall. But, these frames are not of the same quality, look or feel as a custom wood or metal art or picture frame.

We believe, the frame is as important as the art. They complement one another and this relationship between the two is inseparable. Even when re-framing, which is the removing of an old frame, one feels some attachment to the old frame. This is because the frame is in many ways part of the experience.

Over the years, we have worked with many interior designers, galleries, artists , collectors and photographers in Ossining. During this time we have heard the stories of why the art was chosen, who the people are in the portrait or even the journey of obtaining the diploma or degree. It is these stories that make our job memorable.

Our framing shop being conveniently located near Ossining means many of our clients come to our shop in Tarrytown to see our new frames and to learn about the picture framing process. Maybe we are a bit sentimental, but for us at Heritage Frame, each picture, family photo, artwork, diploma, poster, memorabilia, mirror or object we frame has a story attached to it and we work with that in mind.

Framing, art restoration and art installation is more than a business. It is our expression of service and art appreciation. We understand a picture  hung on a wall can be there for many years to come. During this time, it is making a statement.

As the quote says, " A picture paints a thousand words."

Albert Einstein, graffiti, NY, Ossining framing, HeritageFrame.com

Furthermore we feel a picture can touch a thousand lives. So if you need your family portrait, artwork, diploma or other collectible framed, know that with us, it is in good hands.

By the way, we pick up and ship everywhere. We treat your art and photos with care and make certain it is protected in transit and when it arrives at our framing shop.

Again, if you are looking or searching for a picture or art framing shop in or near Ossining NY, Heritage Frame is the one to call.

We give FREE picture framing estimates as well as FREE art restoration and art installation quotes.

Please call Heritage Frame at 914-332-5200. Ted Howell is always available to speak with you and answer your picture framing questions. He can also schedule a private appointment for you to come to the shop or for Ted to meet with you in Ossining.

But now, as the holiday season approaches, HeritageFrame.com wants to make sure if you are giving photos, posters, memorabilia, art work or anything you want framed for the holiday season, we are here.

Recent studies have shown that more people plan on giving photos and artwork for gifts this season and for other special occasions.

In order to make the gift more special and help the artwork stay preserved longer, a picture frame is important. Picture frames, especially custom frames, are specifically designed to protect the art work as well as make them available to be hung.

If you want to give a truly special gift, the old photos in your home are timeless. These photos of family, friends and memorable events and places touch the soul. Gifts like phones, electronics and jewelry have become common and expensive.

Can you imagine getting a custom framed picture of yourself as a baby? What about a photo of your parents wedding custom framed to match the decor of your home? Or to receive artwork made by the children on the family professionally framed and hung in the family room for all to admire?

In fact, many interior designers are now incorporating art work made by family members as a way to personalize the ambience of the home. Interior designers at one time bought expensive artworks and had them custom framed to be hung in the home or business. Now, instead of buying art, they are taking photos and having them custom framed. The custom framing enriches the photographs and artwork so they match the decor. Also, the frame is used a way to capture attention.

Custom Framing and Picture Installation in Westchester NY

For more than 40 years, Westchester residents and homeowners who need custom picture framing have turned to Heritage Frame & Picture Co. Nestled between the forest like environment of Westchester County, Westchester homeowners include political figures as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Bill Clinton, The famous Rockefeller estate and numerous art collectors and celebrities including Vanessa Williams.

Westchester County Ny, Custom Picture Frames

What makes Westchester residents retain Heritage Frame & Picture Co. as the custom picture frame, art restoration and art installation company of choice begins much further back than anyone alive today.

Heritage Frame & Picture Co. is part of a 4th generation of fine art and picture framing companies which began in lower Manhattan in 1878. During this time, the custom picture frame business was considered a luxury. As artwork, photography, memorabilia and diplomas were items only a few could afford or appreciate. Over the years, the reputation and the knowledge of custom framing that was passed down for almost 140 years yielded numerous benefits.

One of the most important, was the knowledge of understanding how to custom frame a picture so it fits perfectly within the frame. In addition, the skill of how to choose the proper matting and picture frame to bring out beauty of the artwork.

Though the custom framing business seems somewhat simplistic, the custom framing business is much much more. Artwork, photographs, memorabilia, collectors pieces and estate collections are very delicate and valuable. If mishandled, the artwork or photograph can be permanently damaged and lose substantial value.

The skill handed down from generation to generation to allows the company now named Heritage Frame & Picture Co. to possess the little known knowledge of how to properly preserve, protect and care for priceless artwork.

In today's world where artwork has sold for hundreds of millions of dollars and family portraits can cost up to a million dollars, caring for art is a liability for the ill-prepared.

This custom framing and reframing skill separates Heritage Frame & Picture Co. from the common or standard picture framing and art installations stores.

What Heritage Frame possesses is the master craftsmanship rarely found in today's world where technology has surpassed artisan tradeship. It is the difference between the skills needed to produce a hand-made Rolls Royce and that of the assembly line Honda Civic.

Westchester residents and business owners appreciate and understand the value of securing a master custom picture frame craftsman like Ted Howell, owner of Heritage Frame & Picture Co.. It is Ted who is the recipient of over 100 years of custom framing knowledge as he is the 4th generation heir to an exclusive industry.

Ted has been working with fine art, masterpieces and family estate photographs since he was a child. Ted Howell studied custom picture framing and art installation under the apprenticeship of his father, who learned from his father and who learned from his father.

Ted Howell understands that Westchester residents, as do his clients throughout the United States and abroad, appreciate art for more than its monetary value. The artwork, photographs, memorabilia, certificates and diplomas represent one's legacy and joys. Like a parent handing off their child to a nanny, art collectors have to trust the hands they are turning over their precious artwork. It is Ted Howell's hands Westchester residents trust to delicately frame and install their artwork.

Why Custom Frame Your Artwork or Photos?

Custom framing preserves art and photographs for future generations to enjoy. When you see the beauty of a custom framed photo or portrait, for a moment you are suspended in time. All of your senses stop to embrace the image before your eyes. You are living in the now. No longer looking at the picture in the frame, you are in the frame.

Whether you are in Chappaqua, Miami, Chicago or Washington, DC, very few things in life take your breath away than artwork or a picture. For as the quotes states, "A picture paints a thousand words". It is not said, well at least not yet, but "A custom picture frame provides the quotation marks."
